What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are clear, sterile gels made from hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is found in all living tissue where it binds to water, producing hydration, softness and volume to the skin. As we age our own HA becomes less efficient, leading to the loss of natural elasticity and volume. There are a huge variety of fillers on the market but at Springwell Clinic we offer the fillers that have the largest safety profile, such as Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma. These fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, making the treatment almost entirely pain-free.

Which areas on my face can be treated?

Dermal fillers come in different thicknesses, and your nurse will choose the one that is right for the area to be treated. The most common areas to be treated are nose-to-mouth lines, mouth-to-chin lines, cheeks, lips, chin and tear troughs (under-eye area). During your consultation, your nurse will advise on which areas will benefit the most from treatment.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

HA fillers are long-lasting (6-18 months) but not permanent. The duration depends on the type of product used, how much is used, your age and general health.

Am I suitable for treatment?

Dermal fillers are suitable for men and women over 18 years old. We do not treat you if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have allergies to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine (local anaesthetic). If you are taking blood-thinning agents, you will bruise more easily, so please discuss this with your nurse.

Are there any side effects?

Dermal fillers are injected into the skin using fine needles, which means there is a chance of bruising, localised redness, mild swelling, itching or discomfort. Allergic reactions are rare but can be treated. As with all injections there is a small risk of infection, although precautions are taken to prevent this happening.

Lip Filler Treatment

This video shows a lip filler treatment. Lips are numbed prior to treatment which takes approximately 30 minutes.
The lip filler procedure reduces lines caused by pursing of the lips, and it also restores lip fullness whilst adding definition.
The Cupid’s Bow is enhanced to correct a flat upper lip and the asymmetry of the lips and perioral area are corrected.
Lip filler treatments last up to 12 months.
Our patient, Tracy, who features in the video said “I view beauty at its best when it’s natural and changes are undetectable instead of fake looking. My highly skilled practitioner, Libbie, delivered flawless results that I’m over the moon with”

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the lovely job you did on my lips. I healed really quickly & I love the results. Ever since you have been treating me with anti - wrinkle injections for the past 3 years - I have decided to have all my cosmetic procedures done by you as I find you very friendly and this puts me at ease. You understand what I need and the results prove that you are not only experienced but an expert at what you do.
