Sculptra is a facial treatment that gives deep tissue regeneration to help reduce the signs of ageing in your face. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Sculptra works to replace lost collagen and replenish volume in your face more subtly over time, giving you a more natural looking appearance.
Sculptra is a biocompatible and biodegradable injectable material known as poly-L-lactic acid (PLA) that naturally stimulates the skins cells to produce its own collagen. While traditional dermal fillers only address wrinkles, lines and folds; Sculptra works differently in replenishing lost volume by stimulating growth of your own collagen to treat the underlying cause of facial ageing and giving a more youthful appearance.
Sculptra is used in the middle to lower face and chin area. This will add volume that has been lost over time to the mid face. Putting volume back into your face softens the nose-to-mouth lines and gives a more youthful appearance to the face.Because this happens slowly, you gradually look better and more lifted.
Sculptra stimulates growth of new collagen and results will generally last about 2 – 3 years. To maintain your results, a smaller amount of Sculptra is usually only then required to re-stimulate the collagen.
You should not use Sculptra if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. You should not be treated when you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area or if you have a history or susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Our nurse will discuss these areas in detail during your free consultation.
Side effects reported include injection site pain and itching, redness, bruising, bleeding, or swelling. Small bumps under the skin that can sometimes be noticeable when pressing on the treated area may also occur. Your medical aesthetic practitioner will give you special aftercare instructions. For optimum results it is important to massage the treatment area twice daily for eight weeks. Inform your medical aesthetic practitioner if any side effects occur.
Before you commence any treatment at Springwell Clinic you will have a free of charge consultation with your practitioner. This gives you the time to discuss all aspects of the treatment programme and its’ costs. A medical history is taken and a plan is created so that you are fully informed and aware of your journey ahead.
