Sports and Remedial Massage

A full body massage will be tailored to focus on the areas that need the most work, often the lower back or neck. The first session is preceded by a short consultation in order to tailor the massage to the client.

How is it done?

First, hot medicinal oil based on herbs is applied to the body, which helps the detoxification process, relax muscles and rejuvenate joints. It is directly followed by hands-on massage. If appropriate, adjuvant treatments such as cupping therapy or a mud compress are applied to accelerate the healing process.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin; this mobilises blood flow in order to promote healing. Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices, which draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localised healing takes place.

Cupping has been found to affect the body up to four inches deep into the tissues, helping tissues to release toxins, as well as activating the lymphatic system, clearing colon blockages, activating and clearing veins, arteries and capillaries, activating the skin, clearing stretch marks and improving varicose veins. Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available.

Mud therapy

Mud therapy provides powerful detoxification through applications such as mud compresses and soaks. The mud used for the therapy is able to transfer heat, relaxing muscle tension, reducing pain and easing stiffness in joints. Due to its high mineral content, mud has a drawing effect that is detoxifying and healing. There are many benefits from this treatment including: Acts as a natural detoxifier; Cleanses the skin of impurities; Improves circulation, leaving the skin looking and feeling rejuvenated; Stimulates the immune system; Breaks down fat cells; Promotes muscular relaxation and relieves pain.
