What is a Swedish massage?

Swedish massage is a whole body therapeutic massage treatment that works the soft tissues and muscles to help restore health – creating a calming and balancing effect on the nervous system. Different massage techniques are used to remove stubborn knots but still create a relaxing experience. Unlike sports massage which can often be painful, Swedish massage therapy uses softer strokes on the bonier and more delicate parts of the body, and stronger, deeper strokes where there is thicker muscle coverage.

What are the benefits of massage?

Apart from soothing tight muscles and boosting well being, Swedish massage offers a whole host of other health benefits including improving blood circulation, reducing emotional and physical stress, helping to keep ligaments and tendons supple and improving range of movement, easing back pain and chronic pain.

is there anything I need to be aware of?

Wear clothes that are easy to remove. You don’t need to be embarrassed as you will be covered with towels and so very little of your body will be seen.

As with all treatments, please let Emma know of any medical conditions you have and if you may be pregnant.

It’s best to avoid heavy meals and alcohol in the hours leading up to your massage.
